He was 90 years old. He was born Feb. 15, 1916, in Kewaunee, a son of the late Adolph and Emma (Lazansky) Blahnik. On July 9, 1949, he married Irma Tatro at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Phlox. She survives. Mr. Blahnik attended Holy Rosary Parochial School and graduated from Kewaunee High School. He served for three years in the U.S. Army signal corps, attaining the rank of technical sergeant after completing tours in Europe and Africa. Mr. Blahnik was employed for 30 years with his father and brothers with Blahnik Manufacturing Company of Antigo, which specialized in building cabinetry and furnishings for churches, many of which are in use today. In the 1970s he began working for Johnson Brothers of Tomahawk doing finishing work on industrial buildings. A musician, he played with the Romy Gosz band in Manitowoc, with his brothers in the mel Blahnik Band of Antigo, and in several Kewaunee groups. In addition to dance bands, he played with Antigo's American Legion Band, the Cosmopolitan Orchestra, the VFW Band, and the Antigo Community Band. He was a member of the Leland Tollefson Veterans of Foreign Post #2653, Antigo. He enjoyed fishing,m skiing, playing a variety of musical instruments, following NFL football, and restoring his father's wood carvings, and making wood bowls and furniture. Survivors in addition to his wife, include two daughters, Linda Blahnik, Wausau, and Carol (Kevin) Zinda, Antigo, a son, James (Barbara) Blahnik, Antigo, five grandchildren, Shannon Blahnik, Danielle and Melanie Blahnik, Michael and Bryan Zinda and a sister, Marie (Richard) Narloch, Lady Lake, Fla. In addition to his parents, Mr. Blahnik was preceded in death by five brothers, Edward, Alfred, Melvin, Daniel, Adolph Jr., and three sisters, Sylvia Blahnik, Irene Dufek and Mable Totzke. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at St. John Catholic Church, Antigo. Rev. Charles Hoffmann will officiate. Entombment will be in Queen of Peace Mausoleum. Visition, including a 4 p.m. parish wake service, will be Friday from 3:30 until 7:30 p.m., and Saturday from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. at the Bradley Funeral Home.
