RootsWeb says they had fourteen children, but those were all I found on Pilot. Anna's surname, BEHNKE, had many spellings, and her middle name was also listed as Carlena/Carline. Peshtigo, WI, m. 6 Sep. 1923, Menominee, M., MI, Nina BARKER, 18, b. MI.] Henry BARTELS & Dorothea BECKMAN are named on marriage record of son Christopher, 30 Aug 1900, Grover, WI, to Emma POLZIN, d/o Julius POLZIN & Auguste HARTWIG. They are also named on record of marriage of son Johann BARTELE {sic}, 7 Je. 1899, Peshtigo, to Louisa KOPISCHKE, d/o Carl KOPISCHKE & Louise SCHRAMM, but Dorothea's maiden name was listed as BECK. It's as if they were trying to be elusive. Johann George Heinrich had become Henry! Pilot.FamilySearch.org has eight pages of BARTELS records for Wisconsin. Several BARTELS families must have come to the same area because Frederick J. BARTELS, b. Crivitz, Germany, son of Christ & Anna, m. 1866, Oconto, Oconto, WI, Louisa HALL, b. England, dau/o Joseph & Louisa. [That's too early for a son of J. G. H. Brother?] Records are a bit confusing. There was a Frederick Denny BARTELS son of Charles G. H. & Christina Sophia, who m. Mary LONG, dau/o Joseph & Matilda, & had Rosetta, b. 11 Je. 1879, & unnamed ch. b. 4 Apr. 1891 & 5 May 1895. However, there was also Frederick H. BARTELS, who married Mary LANG & had Wm. McKinley, b. 9 F 1897, & Winifrieda, b. 30 Sep. 1899. There are just too many Fredericks to decide who's who, and it doesn't help that they had three names and apparently used them all at different times! In 1860, Ripon, Fond du Lac, WI, LOVELACE, Henry M., 28; Ellen, 25; Estella, 5; Arthur, 4; Sarah, 2. In 1880, Maine, Ouagamie, WI, LOVELESS: H. M., 49, PA KY NY Ellen, 44, NY NY NY. Ch. b. WI: Arthur, 24, & Carrie, 17. Dau. Estelle THERMOND, 26, NY, & grandson Wm. H. THERMOND, 7, WI. Carrie [Loveless] BARTELS (ca. 1863/4 - 9 Mar. 1959, Battle Ground, Clark, WI) dau/o Henry M. LOVELESS & Ellen CLARKE. The name Lovelace came to Virginia & Maryland at an early date. I think the name must have been pronounced more like Loveless, so there are records with both spellings. Harry Wright NEWMAN's Anne Arundel Gentry mentions that Reverend John GORSUCH of Walkerne Parish, Hertfordshire, died [in 1648] "beyond the seas." His widow Ann(e), nee LOVELACE, took her (eleven?) children to Virginia. Anne was daughter of Sir Wm. LOVELACE [Harleian Soc. Publ., 15:327, & VA Mag., 24:90]. Anne was named in the wills of both parents, William LOVELACE, who d. 1627, & Anne, nee BARNE, who d. 1633, in England. --not my family Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
