KNOBLE, 75, TOWN CLERK, LUMBER DEALER, DIES Lumberman and town of Langlade clerk for 20 years, William A. Knoble of Pickerel, died early Sunday morning at Langlade County Memorial Hospital. He was 75 years old. Mr. Knoble spent a total of 35 years serving town of Langlade government. At the time of his death, he was town of Langlade clerk, and prior to that he served as supervisor there for 15 years. Also active in church affairs, the deceased was a trustee of St. Mary Catholic Church, Pickerel, for the past 35 years. Born on Feb. 8, 1904 in Shawano County, he was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Knoble. He spent his youth in Shawano County, and married Mary Schoenberger on June 10, 1931 in Gresham. He and his father started the Knoble Lumber Company in 1931, which Mr. Knoble operated until the time of his death. He was a life member of White Tail Sportman's Club, and a member of Wisconsin Lumber Dealers' Association. Two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Carol) Walters of Langlade, and Mrs. Richard (Margie) Krause of Green Bay, survive, along with a son, Thomas of Pickerel, eight grandchildren and a great grandchild. Also surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Pearl Cronnoble of Turlock, Calif., Mrs. Marie Chellsen of Minneapolis, and Mrs. Gertrude Schutte of Pickerel; a brother Henry of Green Bay; a step-brother John Hartel of Pickerel; and two step-sisters, Mrs. Josephine Fuhrman of Gresham, and Mrs. Carrie Buss of Caroline, Wis. Preceding Mr. Knoble in death were a daughter, a brother, and three sisters. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary Catholic Church, Pickerel, with Rev. Len Evers officiating. Friends may call after 4 p.m. Tuesday at McCandless-Zobel and Bradley Funeral Home, where a parish wake service will be held at 7:30 p.m. that day.
