Surnames: Frisch, Bruening, Fronek Classification: Obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/zEC.2ACE/325 Message Board Post: ERNEST FRISCH, FORMER ANTIGO FIRE CHIEF DIES Ernest Fred Frisch, 87, 324 Hudson street, former Antigo fire chief, died this afternoon at Langlade County Memorial hospital after a brief illness. He was a lifetime Antigo resident and was born here on May 14, 1886, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Frisch. On April 24, 1917, he was married in Antigo to the former Martha Bruening, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Norman (Hilda) Fronek of Antigo and a son, Ervin Frisch, Collingdale, Pa.; four brothers, Adolph, Sarasota, Fla., Fred of Antigo, William of Washington, and Herbert, Clearwater, Fla.; nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. A daughter Dorothy died in infancy. A brother and sister also preceded him in death. He joined the Antigo fire department in 1910 and was fire chief when he retired in 1933. He was later employed for four years by Haertel Monument Service, but had not worked since 1940. For a number of years past, Mr. and Mrs. Frisch have wintered in Florida. The deceased was an active member of Peace Lutheran church, which he served as elder for three years, and of the Men's club of the church. Funeral services will be held at Peace Lutheran church Monday at 2 p.m. Rev. Joseph Schultz, pastor, will officiate and burial will be in Elmwood cemetery. Friends may call at Soman and Rhodes funeral chapels after 2 p.m. Sunday and at the church where the body will lie in state from 11 a.m. Monday until the time of services.
