He had been a resident of the town of Antigo for more than 60 years since coming to America with his wife from Germany. He was born May 26, 1855 in Einbeck, Germany, and in 1881 married Caroline Folkman. Surviving are six sons, William, town of Antigo, Ernest and Fred, Antigo, Adolph, Rib Lake, Herbert and Markus, Milwaukee, one daughter, Mrs. August Mattefs, Oshkosh, 14 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Preceded him in death were his wife and three children who died in infancy. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 3:00 o'clock at the McCandless & Zobel funeral home, the Rev. Arthur Fergin officiating. Burial will be in the Antigo cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from this evening until the funeral.
