HERMAN BRUENING SR. Mrs. Herman Bruening Sr., 77, died Tuesday evening at her home in Polar after a lingering illness. A resident of Polar for 52 years, she was born Anna Wierschke in Germany and came to the United States around the age of 15. Her marriage to Herman Bruening took place Sept. 23, 1884 in Wrightstown, Wis. She was a member of the St. John's Lutheran church at Polar. Surviving are her husband; ten children, William of Polar, Emma, Mrs. Hans Gruenberg of Antigo, Otto of Milwaukee, Martha, Mrs. Ernest Frisch of Antigo, Herman Jr., of Polar, Tillie, Mrs. Herman Hoppe of Polar, Ella, Mrs. Ervin Utnehmer of Antigo, Edward at home, Alvin of Polar, and Ernest of Peshtigo; 23 grandchildren and four great grandchildren; and one brother, August Wierschke, Wrightstown. Two children preceded her in death. Carl died in infancy, and Bertha, Mrs. John Hartman of Polar, passed away three years ago. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at St. John's Lutheran church in Polar with the Rev. J. F. Eschbaugh officiating, and burial will be in Polar cemetery.
