I am researching the RANDL surname in Antigo (Langlade County) Wisconsin. Has anyone came across this name in their searches? --Sue
Hi everyone! I just finished updating the crime section on the topics page for ALHN WI. I would also like to ask if anyone knows of a crime that occurred in Wisconsin that I could followup through newspaper reports, etc... Am looking to do more than just the serial killers for the crime section. Also if you know of any books that were written about a specific crime and/or person who committed a crime that I could read up on. Any information would be great. Thanks for visiting my site! AND also thanks for letting me know abot broken links. Click on the link below OR cut and paste to your browser's window. -- Cindy Johnson :0) NEW SITE! Looking for ARROWOOD surname. They moved up here from Kentucky. A good source for ARROWOOD family is http://www.geocities.com/~ralphinla/arrowood.htm My family line is Nathan Lewis Arrowood down the list some. Just looking for more ancestors and descendants. Rita [email protected]
A lot of folks capitalize surnames (PATNODE vs. Patnode) when posting about the names they are researching. I'd like to encourage everyone to please do so as it makes it much easier for readers to scan the post for names they may know something about. Many of us receive so much e-mail that we cannot afford to go through each one line by line trying to pick out names and as a result many do not read posts which do not have surnames capitalized. Hi all! Just a quick note to let you know that I have added and updated some things on the ALHN WI site. The Gazetteer from 1853 is now available for viewing. The State topics page has been finished (for now!<G>), and the counties page also has been updated. There are still come counties without information so anything you can help out with would be great! Also for those of you who have home pages dedicated to Wisconsin, please submit your site through the form from the front page. Thank you! :) -- Cindy Johnson :0) ________________________________ My Wisconsin Family History Page http://www.ameritech.net/users/cindyjohnson1/Family_history.htm 10 descendant outline trees Message board GREAT Links page Genealogy Hompages Links Mystery Pictures Cemetery Inscriptions for WI. & IL ____________________________________________________ NEW SITE! After two weeks of hard work, the American Local HIstory Network - Wisconsin site is ready to be viewed. It is a work in progress site that is a compilation of history and genealogical information all rolled into one. If anyone can donate any information to the site to help it grow that would be great and you would get full credit for your help. There is an individual county listing page that gives information that is county specific. Not all counties have information available yet, I am working on that everyday to add to it. There will also be a topics page that lists information by a specific topic on it - that is still in the works - lots of information on it. ALso will be including the 1853 US Gazetteer for your viewing pleasure. Have a look-see at http://www.usgennet.org/~alhnwius/WI_index.html - let me know what you all think!!! Is there anyone here who would be willing to look at the 1900 census for Langlade County? I'm looking for three or four PATNODE households most likely living in Elton; households would include Frank PATNODE, Leonard PATNODE, Delphine/Della MATTSON (sister to Frank and Leonard) and at least one other PATNODE household. Anyone? Please? Thanks. Hello again everyone! I have some very exciting news for all! I have been asked to take over the Wisconsin history/genealogy site on the American Local History Network ( http://www.rootsquest.com/~amhisnet/index.html )!!! I am sooo excited to have a new pet project in the makings. Right now there are just a few links and historical articles on the site. I would like to take the chance now to invite everyone that can to donate some piece of historical or genealogical information to the site. This is the first site on the internet to combine history and genealogy together. We do not want to take away from Rootsweb what makes it special. We are trying to add to the resources that are already available. Please take the time to stop by the site and give it the once over and tell me what you think. And also, please stick to the copyright laws - do not want to step on ANY toes! Let me know what you can donate to make the site as special as my Wisconsin Family History Page is. Thanks!!!! Please do not respond to this message. If you have questions or comments, please send to me directly. Rootsweb main list server was down because of a 'cracker' hit it and damaged some files. >From Roots-L: The entire GenConnect system will be upgraded starting at midnight on Saturday September 5, 1998. This will require that we shut the system down. The reason is twofold ..... it's not just a patch .... it's a re-write of the program that runs the system. Also, the Global Search engine has been revamped and mega-enhanced, which will require a total rebuild. No new postings can be allowed during this rebuilding period. Downtime is estimated to be 8 hours max (yep .... it's a huge system now!). Anyone attempting to use the system during this downtime will be given notice that it's being upgraded .... no-one will be left in the dark. However, you could help us make this a smoother transition if you would spread the word on any and all of the major mailing lists that you may be subbed to (ROOTS-l, xxROOTS-L, your county lists, surname lists, etc.). Will you help us by doing this? Bill Boulineau Antigo, WI [email protected] Rootsweb Sponsor
