    1. Wisconsin Weekly Chat
    2. Paula Vaughan
    3. I guess I didn't feel once a week email would unset anyone and that it would let the new people to the lists know of the weekly genealogy chat. So this will be the last notice of the weekly chats. I have repeated the instructions below and feel if anyone is interested in the weekly chat can print this out and refer to it for information. Hope to see you there Sunday night and happy hunting! Here are step by step instructions- 1-Go to the site http://huntsville.about.com/citiestowns/southeastus/huntsville/mpchat.htm 2-Click on Log on to chat in the upper left area of the screen. This takes you to another screen. 3-At this screen type in your name or a name you are going to use in the chat room in the space next to Nick name. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO TYPE ANYTHING ELSE IN ANY OF THE OTHER SPACES. Once you have typed in your name, click on OK, connect in the lower left. 4-You are in the chat room. Type your message in the lower left space where it says Type here and then hit enter. A few helpful hints. There is a list on the right side of the screen of all the people who are in the room. To enlarge the screen for easier reading click on the float button in the upper right hand corner. To enlarge the font, also for easier reading, in the space where you type your message type *chat fontsize 14, this will enlarge the font size. 3. Just a friendly weekly reminder of the Wisconsin Genealogy Chat Sunday night at 9:00 p.m. EST (Adjust for your time zone) We have been having a great group, so stop in and see if you can connect with someone else researching one of your lines. There have been a few questions about the chat so I will post the information here for those of you interested in stopping in and are new to chat rooms. 1- Go to http://huntsville.about.com/citiestowns/southeastus/huntsville/mpchat.htm 2- Click on "log on to chat" 3- In the Nick Name space- type the name you want to show in the chat room. Most choose something short and some put the state appreviation after the name, examples DebWI, JeanIL, RedWA, etc. You do not need a password or need to fill out anything else on this page. Once you type in your name click on OK, Connect lower left. 4- You have entered the chat room. You will type your messages in the space in lower left of screen where it says Type here. Type your message and hit enter. A couple helpful hints. To make the screen bigger and without advertisements click on the float button in the upper right hand corner. To enlarge the type - in the message space type *chat fontsize 14, this will enlarge the type font for easier reading. Hope this helps and hope to see some new names in the chat Sunday. 3. I would like to invite the members of the county mail list to the Wisconsin Genealogy Chat on Sunday nights at 9:00 p.m. EST at http://huntsville.about.com/citiestowns/southeastus/huntsville/mpchat.htm (Please note-the time is listed as EST-so you will have to adjust for your time zone.)This chat is held every Sunday night, so if you don't connect with a "lost" relative, check back on another Sunday night. Anyone is invited to join in the chat and of course the topic is Wisconsin Genealgogy. This chat is for the sole purpose of assisting each other in finding our lost ancestors in Wisconsin. Stop in and share those great WI sites you have found, family research, help each other "break" through those brick walls. By sharing information maybe we can help each other find that "cousin" we quite can't find. Hoping to see you! Please excuse me if this is a duplicate email. 3. My great-grandfather Walter Gehrke was killed by lightening in July of 1916. He left a widow Maude Betsy Clough Gehrke b.1888, d. 1957. and 4 small children. I am trying to gather information about his father Charles Gehrke and wife Anna Follis Gehrke. Also Walter's wife Maude. Her parents were Joseph E Clough b.1862, d. 1936 and Ida Carlisle Clough b. 1865, d. 1925. Joseph Clough's parents were Samuel P Horr and Julia Clough.. I believe Julia's father was a Rev. Joseph E. Clough. Maude had a brother Harold b.1890, d.1961 and sister Marion Mabel Clough Bremer b.1893, d.1972. Anything would be appreciated; I am really dead-ended on this. Maude and Walter are buried in the Summit Lake Cemetary. Many Thanks.

    3. The Smith's were proud of their family tradition. Their ancestors had come to America on the Mayflower. They had included Senators and Wall Street wizards. They decided to compile a family history, a legacy for their children and grandchildren. They hired a fine author. Only one problem arose - how to handle that great-uncle George, who was executed in the electric chair. The author said he could handle the story tactfully. The book appeared. It said "Great-uncle George occupied a chair of applied electronics at an important government institution, was attached to his position by the strongest of ties, and his death came as a great shock."

    1. TARRANT-FEDEREN-SHANNON
    2. Hello to the Great State of Wisconsin, I am searching for any information anyone can provide me with regard to the surname TARRANT and FEDEREN. Both families lived in various parts of the state, but spent quite a bit of time in the Minneapolis area. I am searching for PHILIP FEDEREN (1883) and his wife EDITH FEDEREN (1884) and their two children FABIOLA TARRANT (1897) and CECILE TARRANT (1893). They were last known to be in the Twin Cities area in 1944, but their descendants could be anywhere by now. They were relatives of GEORGE A. SHANNON AND ISABELLA (McDonald) SHANNON of Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, and their son ROBERT D. SHANNON, who was last known around 1942-44 to be living in Spencer, Iowa. Robert's wife was named JESSE and his children were ANNABELLE and GEORGE, also of Chippewa Falls, WI. Sometime around 1940-45, the family and the germane cousins and step-relatives scattered about the state for an unknown reason, so I'm asking for help from anyone in ANY Wisconsin County. Any information regarding these families or their descendants would be greatly appreciated. Yes, this was posted to every board in Wisconsin because the families scattered and I'm at the point of desperation. It conforms to the guidelines established by RootsWeb, USGenWeb and that awesome upstart ALHN, so it IS NOT considered spam. Take care all. I wish you the best of luck with your own searches.
