Author: LarryShoger51 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.wisconsin.counties.langlade/1340.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: If you have time, I'd appreciate it if you could try to find the death dates of Henry Bartels (Bartells) and his wife Carrie Loveless Bartels. I believe Carrie died around 1930 - both were born in the 1860s. Arthur Bartels, father of Arthur Bartels, born 18 Oct 1916, and husband to Maria Mowry is most likely Arthur K. Bartels son of Henry & Carrie Loveless Bartels. Arthur K. Bartels died 13 Dec 1918 in Crandon, Forest co., WI. Do you think Henry Bartels, husband to Caroline Crane is Harry Bartels, born 28 Jan 1901? Thanks so much for this information!!!! Very much appreciated. Since this branch of the CRUM line seem to have roots in Kentucky, I suspect all of these people are related. In fact I recently found a posting on a Civil War site from a Jim Van OOYEN asking about a burial location for his great-great grandfather, Henry CRUM, in Kentucky. I noticed that one of Mrs. Amos CRUM daughter's is Mrs. Roland Van OOYEN of Antigo (or Bryant). Perhaps there's a connection. Thanks again for all of your help. Author: suzzee2u Surnames: Crum Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.wisconsin.counties.langlade/1339.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Thank goodness I found you. I deleted your message and only had a partial address but I did get lucky. The obituary from the : Antigo Daily JOurnal November 27 1972 "DONALD L. CRUM DIES SATURDAY" "Donald L. Crum 56, of Milwaukee died Saturday at his home following a long illness. He was born July 25, 1916, in Cloverdale Indiana, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. (Doc) Crum. When he was one year old , his parents moved to Bryant where Mr. Crum remained until moving to Milwaukee In 1965. On Nov. 6, 1939, in Iowa, he married Edith Raymark. They later separated. While in Bryant Mr. Crum was a farmer, a mill worker and a truck driver. He was the foreman of a woodworking plant in Milwaukee for the past seven years. Surviving are three sons, James and Kenneth, Kenosha and Donald Jr.; his mother Eula Crum Antigo; five sisters, Mrs. Vertie (Leora)Brown with he lived, Mrs. Bruce (Rub?)??nes, and Mrs. William (Ja??)Koelch, Chicago, Mrs. Cl??ton (Bernadine) Burford, Buffalo NY, and Mrs. Sanford (Phyllis) Markowitz, Albuquerque, NM--four brothers. Ivan, Jacksonville Fla., Arthur and Ralph Antigo and Raymond Chicago; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father in May 1970, a sister Mrs. Pauline Schumacher in 1970 and a daughter Peggy Lou who was killed in a school bus-truck accident in 1962. Friends may call after 4:30 p.m. today. at the funeral chapels." There were 4 other Crum obituaries listed in the paper. 1. Albert Crum May 21, 1928 67 y/0-No Survivors listed. 2. Albert Crum Nov. 2 and Nov. 20 1922- "Albert Crum, son of Mr. and Mrs. Amos crum of Bryant, died this morning at the home of a relative on Minola Street. Death was due to blodd poisoning cause by the extraction of a tooth. Mr. Crum was 20 years old. Funeral services will be held tomorrow. Burial will be in the Bryant cemetary." 3. "Mrs. Amos Crum Mrs. Amos Crum 67, died Sunday evening at her home in Bryant after an Illness of 2 months. She was born in Kentucky and camt ro Bryant with her husband in 1905. they have made thier home ever since, celebrating the golden anniversary of their marriage in January of this year. Mrs. Crum was member of the Baptist church. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 1:30 o'clockat the McCandless and Zobel home with the Rev. George AlAlborn officiating.and interment in the bent cemetary in Bryant. Friends may view the remains at the funeral home. Surving are her husband; six sons, Willie of Lily, John of Chicago, Louie of Vilas, Leslie of Lily, Jess of Birnamwood, virgil of Bryant: seven daughters, Hattie, Mrs Thomas Monahan of this city, Martha, Mrs. Luther McMillon of Argonne, Veda, Mrs. Raymond Kandler of this city, Bertha, Mrs. Lloyd Doernenburg of this city, Anna, Mrs. Ralph Young of the town of Norwood, Virgie, Mrs. roland Vanooyen and Edna at home. One son Albert preceded her in death. Also surviving are one sister Mrs. Ed Jones of this city and four brothers, Bill Conn of White Lake, Joe Conn of Ohio, Phil Conn of Kentucky, and Dan Conn of Kentucky." I thought I would add these. Maybe there is a connection. Langlade Co. does have a genealogy web site and some of the cemetaries are online and more are being readied to be put on. These were the only obituaries that were indexed. Newer ones, maybe from the 1980's on, you would probably need a date of death. Hope this helps. 3. Try looking for this family in Breathitt, Wolfe or Powell counties in KY. Quite a number of Langlade County families came from this area of KY. Some of my GIBBS, TYRA, ARROWOOD lines married CRUM family in Langlade County. Most of the Ky familes came with the lumber industry.
