Do you have family group sheets where you record for each individual for each family. My first bit of advice is to get all of the information for living relatives in this area. We can help you. You may want to consider joining our group so you can hear how others in the group are doing. We meet this monday night at 6 pm at the old library in the research room. DOB for these two, respectively, 1852 and 1859. Charles was born in New York and he indicates his parents were born in Germany. Anna was born in Canada as were her parents. I believe this couple was married in and resided in Canada in the early years of their marriage. Does anybody know of any other GEHRKE Families in Langelade County, ie, brothers or sisters to Charles SR. I've hit the proverbial brick wall with my GEHKRES. Thank you.

    2. Slager Family
    3. Hello WILANGLA-L, I am looking for information on John Patrick KEOUGH b. 13 May 1879 in Langlade County and his parents John and Elizabeth (MULL) KEOUGH. John Patrick KEOUGH died in Dane County in 1942 having retired to Antigo. He was married to Mae Olive Gibbs on 03 Feb 1912, daughter of Woodsie (Woodsee) Gibbs and Martha Tyra. I am also looking for the names and/or spouses of John Patrick's brother and sister who preceded him in death. John Patrick is reported to have been raised after the age of seven years old by "Grandmother Pendleton", an Indian woman, living near Lily. His father John KEOUGH (SR.) is believed to have left the his son and the state and may have gone to Michigan about 1886. He may have owned a saw mill in Michigan. Can anyone give me any information on the PENDLETON family of Lily? Was this family "blood relatives" that perhaps raised John Patrick or was he "abandoned" to the "indians" to raise. His mother is thought to be French Canadian/Indian. Where John Keough moved to in Michigan? Did he remarry and have a family in Michigan? What happened to his wife, Elizabeth MULL KEOUGH by 1886. Was there a shoe shop in Antigo owned by a man with a wooden leg in the 1940's? It may be a lead to John Patrick's brother. Any leads on the KEOUGH, MULL, or PENDLETON families of Langlade County would be much appreciated.

    1. RUT surname
    2. Charlotte
    3. Hi folks, Just thought I'd post this surname in case it sounds familiar to anyone. My g-uncle, Emil RUT, farmed in Antigo. He died June 12, 1974 at age 81. Buried at Bohemian National Cemetery on June 15, 1974. Parents were James Rut and Katherine SMAKAL, and I believe he was born in Pole, Bohemia. His sister Marie, my ggm, has turned into a brickwall, so I thought I'd try this angle for awhile! I've not had any luck with obtaining an obituary thus far. My mother tells me 'cousin Sherry' (HOMOLKA, maybe?) "looked up all that stuff years ago" -- but naturally can't tell me how to reach her, either. Anyway, hope this rings a bell somewhere, and a belated Happy New Year to all! Good Hunting, Charlotte

    2. Paula Vaughan
    3. I want to thank you all for all of the VERY positive responses. Many of the mail list administrators have stated it is all right to continue to post the reminders I am choosing not too. I did not solely join the county mail lists to place a weekly reminder on them. I felt I could contribute to others research not only by having a gathering place (weekly chat), but I have also answered many questions for many different researchers on the various county mail lists. I was hoping to help others. Should anyone need information on the Wisconsin Genealogy weekly chat-I have this information posted on the Waupaca County Website at the following address http://www.rootsweb.com/~wiwaupac/index.htm. I will will continue to post chat reminders on the Waupaca County mail list, WauShaOcon Mail List and Wisconsin Mail List. Hope you all break through those brick walls and find those lost ancestors-have a great week!
