WIERSCHKE, FORMER AREA RESIDENT, DIES Former resident of the town of Polar, Mrs. Otto Wierschke, 77, died Sunday at her home town hospital in Crystal Falls, Mich. She was born Jan. 5, 1902 in the town of Polar, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Brandt. As Emma Brandt, she married Otto Wierschke on June 22, 1922 and resided in the polar area until 1933. In 1933, she moved to the Peavey Falls area in Michigan, where she lived until her death. Surviving her are two sons, Allen, Wauwatosa, Wis., and Norman, Crystal Falls; four grandchildren; one brother, Ernest Brandt, Antigo; and two sisters, Mrs. Elsie Grady and Mrs. Dale Hartman, both of Antigo. Mrs. Wierschke was preceded in death by her husband, who died in 1975, and one daughter. She married Joseph Verhaagh on Oct. 10, 1933 at St. John Catholic church of Antigo. He died in 1978. She was also proceded in death by two brothers. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. John Catholic church with the Rev. Ronald Columbo officating. Burial will be in Queen of Peace cemetery. Friends may call at Soman-Strasser funeral home after 4 p.m. Tuesday. HOFFMAN DIES TUESDAY AT AGE OF 79 Arthur J. Hoffman, 79, of 304 Dorr street, died Tuesday morning at Langlade County Memorial hospital. A son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Matthew Hoffman, he was born Aug. 7, 1898, in Marshfield where he spent his childhood. As a young man, he moved to Antigo. In 1922, he married Mary Aschenbrener who preceded him in death in 1942. On Oct. 18, 1945, he and Cora Turney were married in Rhinelander. She survives. Mr. Hoffman was an employee of Duchac Lumber company for 50 years prior to his retirement in 1963. He was an active member of St. Ambrose Episcopal church where he served on the vestry for a number of years. Surviving besides his wife, Cora, are a stepdaughter, Mrs. Hilda Steber, Antigo; two stepsons, Milton Kutchel, Antigo, and John Kutchel, California; a brother, Roy, Belmont, Calif.; and grandchildren and great grandchildren. Services will be Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Ambrose Episcopal church with the Rev. Keith Whitmore officiating. Burial will be in the Elmwood cemetery. He was born in Antigo on Dec. 18, 1926 to the late Harold and Alice Reinkeand lived in Antigo until 1942 when the family moved to Manitowoc. He was employed as a construction worker most of his working life and was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Marine Corp. Surviving are his wife, Shirley, whom he married in Manitowoc on Feb. 19, 1955; two daughters; five sons; and six sisters including Mrs. Walter (Jeanette) Tews of Antigo. Mr. Reinke was a member of the First Lutheran church of Manitowoc where funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. Private family visitation will be held tonight at the Schneider Funeral home in Manitowoc. He lived in Milwaukee for 25 years and moved to Birnamwood in January of 1972. Mr. Fischer was retired from the Milwaukee Road Railroad. On Nov. 25, 1935 he married the former Marie Smith in Antigo. She survives. He was a member of St. Philomena's Catholic church in Birnamwood. Surviving besides his wife and a son, Bud, Wausau; two daughters, Mrs. Donald (Joann) Gerhke, and Mrs. Ronald (Shirley) Krejci, both of Milwaukee; three sisters, Mrs. Rudy (Barbara) Mondl, Antigo, Mrs. Otto (Mary) Lambrecht, Green Bay; and Mrs. Donald (DeLoris) Fremming, Wausau; eight brothers, John, Green Bay; Joe, Stetsonville; William, Antigo; Philip, Hatley; Robert, Kaukauna; and Raymond, Lawrence and Harry, all of Birnamwood; and eight grandchildren. The Elmwood Cem. is located in the Antigo twp which is outside the city limits. I have family members buried in Elmwood which is definitely not Queen of Peace.

Fish at Elcho in sawmill and potato farming operations, and was a member of the American Legion Post at Elcho. Surviving besides his wife are a daughter, Mrs. Carl (Carol) Tullis of Racine; two sisters, Mrs. Louisa King and Mrs. Mayme Faezel, both of Elcho; and a granddaughter. A grandson died in 1959. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Soman and Rhodes funeral chapels with the Rev. Edward Busse of Pell Lake, Wis., officiating. The emigrated from Stettin, Pomerania (Prussia) on the Jupiter ship of the Bremen Line. They landed in New York on May 28, 1864. They are both buried in the Teske family plot in Antigo, WI. Do you have the birth and dates of death for both of them? Also, do you know the names of Martin's brothers? Martin's son, Eldor Martin Teske, married Ernestina Gehrke on 8-28-1900. My information shows that Ernestina died on 1-8-1912. They had four sons (Melvin, Norman, Orville, Carroll). I have more information to share if you are interested, including photos. Mary
