Author: lindseythompson83 Surnames: May, Combs, Roberts, Hall Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.wisconsin.counties.langlade/1331/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I'm searching for information on the family of William MAY (b abt 1861 in Kentucky), his wife Ellen (b abt 1860, KY). They married about 1880, according to census records, and had six children, all of whom were born in Kentucky: Willis (b 1883), Mamie Pearl (b 1884), Robert (b 1888), James (b 1890), John (b 1892), and Roland (b 1896). William's family was from Virginia. Ellen's were from Kentucky. In 1900 the family was living in Torrent, Wolfe County. Over the next several years, the family, or at least parts of it, moved to Wisconsin. Willis was in Langlade County, Wisconsin, in 1902. He married Susie HALL in Langlade County in 1902, and by 1910, they were living in Forest County. Willis died in Michigan. Mamie married Thomas COMBS in Kentucky, and they moved to Langlade, Wisconsin some time between 1903 and 1908. After Thomas died, Mamie married George ROBERTS, who also migrated to Wisconsin from Kentucky. Both Mamie and George died in Langlade County. William, Ellen, and Roland moved to Wisconsin sometime between 1900 and 1917. Roland married Jeanette and died in Antigo in 1964. William and Ellen were both alive and living in Evergreen in 1930. I don't know when they died. I assume they died in Langlade County, but can't be sure of it. I don't know whether Robert, James, or John stayed in Kentucky or moved to Wisconsin or elsewhere. Any information anyone has on this family would be very much appreciated! Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Erwin Bentley was my grandfather. Currently from Erwin, the Bentley surname has reached the end of the line. My Uncle Gene was the last Bentley coming from William as Ralph Bentley died at a very young age, Erwin had Gene and Gene never had children. Research has shown me Williams brother Frank (Frederick) moved to Antigo at some point and was living there for quite some time, married and had children. Dorothy Carlson supposedly never married & last anything was known abt her was 1958 residence of Chippewa Falls, WI. Maurene Gentz Carlson Nov.1970 obit tells us all kids were alive -no location listed for Dorothy, Shirley was in Gleason, Lincoln Co, Allen in Salinas Cal. in US AIRFORCE, Mary Fields in Houston, TX. 1. [WILANGLA] John Bonnell (b.1757) & Bonnell's of Antigo, Wisconsin
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: slb17anc Surnames: Bonnell Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.wisconsin.counties.langlade/557.1.1.1.1.4/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Just want to add & hopefully aid in this line... I'm working on a comparison spreadsheet on the John Bonnell 'Rev War Soldier' (b.1757 d.1845 Erie, PA) at . http://www.kbsb.com/bonnelltree/john-compare.htm (there are several tabbed pages to this at the bottom of the spreadsheet) So far, I have found 5 different John Bonnells in the Rev War - and I'm trying to sort things out with this side-by-side view. So far, I can find no valid source for his Birth place or Parents and I am concerned with the mention of the following concerning John's birth place & parents: {".. William's parents were John Bunnell b. 1757 NJ died 1845 Erie, Pa and mom could poss. be Nancy Farraday or Betsy Pandy b. 1761 or there could have been two wives. John's parents were William Bunnell b. 1735 New Haven, Ct. married Betsy Parrody b. 1739 in New Haven and died in Green Twp. Erie, Pa. .."} Claude Bunnell's DataBase ( http://www.williambunnellfamily.org ) also has some of this info (Ref # 027429) based on an LDS entry... The entry is from an individual, not a copy of a document. Some earlier books & data, { such as: 1] "Pennsylvania's Pine Creek Valley and Pioneer Families", pages 411, 412 ( http://www.kbsb.com/kraybill/default.htm ) -and - 2] "HISTORY OF LITTLE PINE VALLEY LYCOMING COUNTY PA" } had this John's parents confused with a different John. Some of my *suspicions" seem to lead to the references from the Emery area (William Bonnell Emery) and the SAR & DAR info, which I am slowly picking up pieces on. (I hope to gain much more insight on this from a planned meeting in October 2009) My personal interest that is driving this: John is my SAR link for Bonnell. I could use a few other Soldier lines (English, Boatman, etc from the Pine Creek Valley area), but I want it to be via John BONNELL. BTW, I still live within about 25 miles of where John lived when he was in Lycoming Co. Not much movement in over 200 years! We also have a DNA project to help with this. So far, this branch of Bonnells is UN-attached to the majority of Bonnell/Bunnell lines in the US. Getting more Males that believe they are descended from this John Bonnell to have a DNA test would be very helpful in this quest - for all of us. The several sons of this John have family ties in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Wisconsin, and California, among others. This is a major Search in Progress for quite a few folks, so please; ANY and ALL comments/challenges/theories, and DNA Tests are welcome.
