I'm looking for info on the Robert SMITH family, who emigrated from Yorkshire, England March, 1849, to Lafayette County. I believe they may have joined Robert's brother James and father Francis in or near Argyle. The family consisted of Robert, wife Mary (REDFERN) and children Ann and Margaret (twins, born @1841 in England); Mary Ann, born 3 December, 1844 England; Hester, born @ 1843 England; and son Francis, born @1848 England. I think they may have had one son born here: William, born @ 1859 in Argyle. Robert died 9 October, 1867 in Argyle and is buried in the old Argyle Cemetery...wife Mary died 3 July, 1904, and is buried by him. I suspect some of the family moved to Nebraska and Colorado areas; I have some old photos taken in Grand Island, NE that say, "Billy's family" on the back. Daughters Ann and Mary Ann married twin brothers Edwin and Edward JACOBS and remained in Argyle area. I'd LOVE to find the rest of their family!!
