Jim, Thanks much for info on Richard Johns.He is my ggrandfather. I know he had a farm in Lafayette County somewhere around Leslie, not to far south of Rewey which is in Iowa County. I believe he was also married in Lafayette County on 2 Feb 1869 to a Mary Jane Nicholson. As far as I know he died 3 Nov 1903 also in Lafayette County. =================================== Jim, Does the genealogy society in Lafayette County have a research staff that will look these things up? Or is it better to work directly with the people at the court house? I would like to use the fastest method because there is a Johns family runion on the 30th of June and I would like to supprise some of the family members with these documents. Supprisingly no other family member has ever researched the family that I know of. =================================== Thanks again Jm for your help.
