    3. -- Donna & Duane DeVoe Come Visit Lena, Illinois! http://www.villageoflena.com >>> swtsales@mhtc.net 07/31/01 08:35PM >>> The Lafayette County Genealogy Society is beginning a project of updating the index of cemetery records for Lafayette County. This is to be a 3-4 year project due to the large number of cemeteries in Lafayette County. The first cemetery to be updated is the Graceland Cemetery in Blanchardville. Work will begin on August 11, 2001 at 9:00 A.M. Bring as sack lunch, a clipboard, sun hat, and maybe a folding chair. We need all the help that we can get. Most of our local members are old and find this work too hard for them. 3. I have been working on updating the cemeteries in Wood County, Wisconsin. I have one completed and another just started. I did not work directly with the tombstones. I work with the lady the handles the cemetery. This way I found all of them that did not have grave stones. I also took the list to the register of deeds and found the month, date that was not on the tombstones and the Volume and page where the death certificate could be found. This also makes it easier on old, disabled people like me who can't rove the cemeteries. I wish I was close and could help, as I have ancestors who are buried in your county. If interested I can send a copy of what I did with the Arpin cemetery. We are also going to make it a digital cemetery in time when the pictures are done. You can find the list on the Wood County pages if interested. Marlys nothergrandma@charter.net
