Jim, I have an old obituary for a Mrs. Ella Mahoney, the beloved wife of Thomas Mahoney, who died at her home Tuesday, July 2, 1912.......she was born in Gratiot, WI and married T.J. Mahoney on Oct. 28, 1903. Gratiot is only about 16 miles east of Shullsburg. Lafayette marriages would be a Dennis Mahoney in 1883, William Edward Mahoney in 1926, John J. Mahoney in 1902, Martin L. Thanks Marie, I have very little to go on here, so am gathering what I can about MAHONEY in the Shullsburg area. My interest is based on James H. that first showed up in Bridgewater, SD, married to Mary A. CONNOR. This line is the only known descendants of Mary's father (Unknown) CONNOR, a brother of my ggrandmother. Mary A. was supposedly born in Missourri. Her father supposedly drowned in the Red River of the North. At age 4, Mary A. was living with my ggrandparents in Dubuque County, Iowa. I was quite surprised to learn that James and Mary MAHONEY were both buried at Shullsburg so am looking for the connection.
