this article is from the Muscoda Progressive, July 20, 2000 (page 3) Area Historic Grant Program Announced The Point of Beginnings Heritage Area of Southwest Wisconsin has announced a grant program to assist organizations in their efforts to enhance the interpretation and preservation of historic artifacts, sites and resources in Grant, Iowa, Lafayette Counties and Prairie du Chien. The Point of Beginnings seeks to fund projects that will benefit the general public in gaining a deeper understanding and appreciation of historic resources in the Point of Beginnings area. All units of government, non-profit organizations, for-profit businesses and individuals located within the Point of Beginnings Heritage area are eligible to apply. Point of Beginnings funds can be used to match a maximum of 50% of cash project expenses. The Point of Beginnings will award $4,000 in 2000 with grants ranging from $200 up to $2000. The application deadline is August 15.
