Carey #2 John BURKE (b. abt. 1800 in Waterford?, Ireland - May 19, 1888 in Shullsburg) 2a Michael Burke (b. abt 1860 in Shullsburg) 2b Ellen (1862 - October 22, 1899) married Daniel Murphy (1868 - 1935) Children: Ellen, (b. May 1, 1894), Margaret Frances (b. March 09, 1896), & John (b. May 12, 1899) According to census records Margaret & John Burke were Gaelic-speaking & illiterate. In the 1860 census, Margaret's niece Mary KINNEY (age 11) and nephew Mike KINNEY (age 6) were living with them. 2c Richard H. (September 26, 1863 in Shullsburg - December 01, 1941 in Janesville) m. Maurine (Mary) LEE (January 08, 1867 in Norway - June 10, 1938 in Janesville) & had 9 children. They are my great-grandparents – their daughter Marguerite Geneva Burke (1893-1975) married Joseph G.
