This the beginning of a new year and I thought I would re post my search queries. I have actually 3 names associated with Lafayette County, WI. These families originated in Virginia, North Carolina and Tennessee. Going from VA to TN, NC to TN and TN to WI The family names are McFarland... Wood... Helm and maybe just maybe Adkins,, I know nothing other than Elizabeth Adkins was Wesley McFarland wife and mother of my great grandfather Alexander Miller McFarland... the Wood and Helm names belong to my great grandmother Susannah Caroline Wood McFarland. I am looking for the families of my Grandfather's siblings born in Lafayette County, Wisconsin Mary Louisa (Louvina) McFarland born July 6, 1866 Lafayett Co., WI d Dec. 15 1933 Lewiston, Lewis County, Idaho. married Albert Willis Allen. William Berry McFarland b. Oct. 26, 1868, Lafayett Co., WI died Oct. 27, 1927 Ft. Bliss, El Paso, Texas married Sally Emily Self. I would love to have some type of info on where this one is buried. She only lived about 1 year. Elizabeth C. McFarland b. Dec. 19 , 1870 Lafayett Co., WI d. Jan. 18, 1871 same. This one is a mystery: James Alexander McFarland b. July 23, 1872, Lafayette Co., WI d. June 17, 1909 Nogales, Arizona Territory. This one I am not sure was born in WI, I think he was born in Iowa. Fred Winfield McFarland b. May 31, 1878 d. April 6, 1949, Flint, Smith Co., Tx These children were the children of Alexander Miller McFarland and Susannah C. Wood. They both had family in Wisconsin and settled in Lafayette County after the Civil War, which Alexander M. had fought on the Union side. I would love to correspond with any McFarland, Wood, Helm family that are still in the area. We do know that Susannah's grandmother, Susannah Hackler moved to Wisconsin with some of her children. She was the wife of Adam Helm and born June 21, 1779 and died after 1850 in Lafayette Co., WI.. Her children were John F. Helm, b. about 1800 in Virginia, d. Sept. 5, 1861 in Lamont, Lafayette Co., WI married to Jemima Crabtree. George Helm, b. Virginia, d. Lamont married 1) Nancy Pile, born in Fentress County, TN and 2) Margaret Davis, b. Greyson (County?), Virginia, Mary Helm, b 1808, TN d. November 1861, Richland, WI. Jonathan Helm, b Dec. 23, 1811 TN d. Dec 23, 1899 Darlington, WI buried Lamon-Cuddy, Lafayett Co., WI Adam Helm b. about 1812 These two I am not sure about at all.. someone gave me birthrates and now I can not find them so I am assuming the dates here.. and every one knows about assuming and what a fool it can make of you.
