George and Eliza Gould farmed there. George dabbled in mining somewhere in the area. Eliza's brothers were in Shullsburg in that era. Names were Charles and Harrison Brockway. George's son, Marcy Linus Gould was later in Blanchardville. More names: Henry Mill, Charlie Amerpohl (Blanchardville). Later ones went to M.E.Methodist Church in B'ville. Does anyone know if there are records somewhere of that church? I was baptised there on Mother's Day 1928. How is this for a jump start? Nancy Amerpohl Youse

Hi Rose - I would certainly be interested in your Shullsburg articles, and having done some research in the Pick & Gad I could contribute also. As for the list being so quiet - other lists I've been on try to "jump start" the dialogue by asking subscribers to send a message indicating their interests and listing the surnames they are researching. So, in the hope that it will get others to contribute (and of course hoping to make contacts that may help my research) here are my surnames: LYNE & MAGEE - in both Lafayette Co., WI & JoDaviess Co., IL Hoping to hear from others - Paul Lyne pwlyne@facstaff.wisc.edu

I am the webmaster for American Local History Network - Wisconsin and would wonder if we could possibly put your articles on the site. You would of course retain the copyright and get full credit for them. And if anyone else would be interested in adding information from research etc that they have done and would like to contribute it, please contact me. cindyjohnson1@ameritech.net ALHN WI - http://www.usgennet.org/~alhnwius/WI_index.html Please let me know. -- Cindy Johnson *American Local History Network - WI* http://www.usgennet.org/~alhnwius/WI_index.html *My Wi. Hi Rose, I would also appreciate learning more from the files of the Pick and Gad. In response to Paul Lyne's idea of sharing surnames, I'll add my list. Doyle, Barron, Beggin, Hillemeyer, Meighan (or Meehan), Sayer, Raw, Fawcett on one side of the family. On the other, Leahy, Swift, McCabe, Murray, Shea (or Shay), and McDermott. Terry Doyle
Hi Is there anyone on this list? I have been on the list for a while now and have not gotten any mail in quite awhile. I have been typing up some articles from old Pick & Gad newspapers about the history of Shullsburg. Would anyone be interested in reading them on this list? Sincerely Rose DeRocher

Hi all! By popular demand I have created a Wisconsin Surname Locator page on ALHN WI. The pages hold such information as what surname is being researched, what county it is being researched in, who is researching it, and a link to that researcher's email address. Please stop by and check it out or add your names at: http://www.usgennet.org/~alhnwius/WI_index.html - scroll down to Wisconsin Surname Locator and click on that button. There are well over 700 surnames listed there now and more being worked on as you read this. Is there a list of burial grounds in Lafayette County? I am looking for the burial of George Victor Gould 1870-1880 and his wife Eliza Brockway Gould 1860-1870 in or around Argyle. They farmed there. Maybe buried on the farm???? Thanks, Nancy

Hi Iam new to this list, I just saw this yesterday that Lafayette County had a mailing list. I have many Lafayette County names: Bain, Barron, Beggin, Doyle, Francis/Franssen, Gallagher, Marchand, McGrane, McGuigan, Montagne/La Montagne, Paquette, Rooney amongst others. If anyone has any questions about the names I listed above just drop me a email and I'd be happy to share info. I also volunteer to do lookups in the books I have on Lafayette County and Shullsburg on the Lafayette County Website. Which I enjoy to help other people find info on their family also. I just subscribed to see if there was anyone on the list and decided to say hello. Sincerely, Rose DeRocher
