    2. Kathleen Burnett
    3. Hugh MCINTOSH b. 1834 in Scotland, married Mary Amanda LOOMIS b. 1836 in Stephenson Co., IL. This marriage took place in 1853 Argyle, LaFayette Co., WI according to family records also per these records, they had the following children: Clayton A., Henrietta Valda, Mary Vivian (who I think married Milo DEMMING), Ralph, Elmer and Sidney. I found this family with the first 2 children in the 1860 Breckenridge Co., KS Census living in Forest Hill and have not found record of them since. Do you have this MCINTOSH family in your data base? Kathleen Burnett

    2. Hi Mary, We meet again. We are Bill & Pat Fitzgerald from Grosse Pointe, Mi. We were in contact with you about 10 yrs ago and was afraid we had lost contact. We moved to: 10117 Aberdeen Dr. Grand Blanc, M 48439 about 4 yrs ago. I am seriously back into genealogy again. But still trying to find that Fitzgerald connection. I believe your assumption is correct that your old Maurice Fitzgerald and my Michael Fitzgerald were brothers, but have yet to prove it. I have kept all of your correspondence and am going back through my papers to see if I may have missed something. Are you still at RR3 Box 126 Faribault, MN 55021? I will be in touch. I am so happy to hear from you again. I feel confident we can nail this down. Fondly, Pat Fitzgerald

    2. Dear Mary, Do any of your CAREY families have a John, b. c1852 in Ireland, who married Anna (aka Mary or Sis) Lyons (various spellings), b. c1855 in Missouri, about 1874. She was the daughter of Margaret KENNY LYONS BURKE and step-daughter of John BURKE. John & Anna Carey had several children: Michael Nov 1874 Mamie June 1878 James October 1881 Richard May 1887 Thomas October 1891 Patrick January 1892 Ellen April 1894 Curtis September 1899 - 1902 I have no other info on John/Anna's family. Anna's half-sister, Ellen BURKE (1862-1899), married Daniel MURPHY, s/o Patrick/Margaret, (1868-1935) in 1893 and had 3 children: Ellen May 1894 Margaret Frances March 1896 John May 1899 I have no other info on Ellen/Daniel's family. Anna's half-brother, Richard H. BURKE, is my great-grandfather & I have lots of info on his descendants. Monica Odani modani@aol.com

    1. [WILAFAYE] CAREY of Shulsburg area
    2. O'connor, Wayne
    3. I'm researching several CAREY families of Shullsburg area who I think were all related as many are found living very closely together on Shullsburg census records of 1870, 1900, 1905 and 1910. Family One: Owen Carey and Ann McGrath family: Children born between 1860-1877: Ellen, Katherine, Johanna, Thomas, John, Patrick, James, Anne, and Eugene Carey. Owen Carey was a carpenter, a farmer, and a grocer in Shullsburg. Born in Co. Waterford in 1826. Died in Shullsburg in 1910. Parents of Owen Carey were John Carey and Mary McCarty. Family was from Co. Waterford, Ireland. Owen had a sister, Mary Carey Burke, and possibly a brother, John/Jack Carey Family Two: Patrick Carey and Margaret Mahoney. Patrick Carey born about 1820. Children listed on the 1870 census: James, John P., Mary (Mrs. Charles Conlon), Thomas, and Annie, (Mrs. Thomas McArdle.) Family Three: John Carey and Ellen Carey. John Carey born about 1820. Children listed on the 1870 census: Michael, Nellie, John, Mary, William and Bridget Carey. Family Four: Mary Carey and Maurice Fitzgerald. Mary was born in Ring, Co. Waterford about 1800. She married Maurice Fitzgerald in Ring in 1824. Nine children: Mary, (Mrs. Leahy Burke), James, Bartholomew, Margaret, (Mrs. John Wall/Waul), Ellen, (Mrs. John Christopher), Catherine, (Mrs. Welsh), Grace, (Mrs. John Donnelly), Maurice, and John Fitzgerald. Family Five: Thomas and Ellen Carey. Thomas Carey was born about 1810. Children listed on the 1870 census: Mary and Daniel Carey Family Six: Michael and Elizabeth Carey. Michael Carey born about 1820. Children listed on the 1870 census: John, Michael, Mary, Patrick, and Katie Carey. I have more details on some of these families. I would be happy to exchange information with anyone who may have a connection to any of these Carey families of Shullsburg area. Thank you. Mary O'Connnor oconnorw@phibred.com

    1. [WILAFAYE] CONLEY, Joseph and Margaret
    2. Everson, Sandra
    3. I'd appreciate any suggestions or help in sorting out a confusing situation with this family. We are coming up with Joseph and Margaret Conley with 2 different sets of children, two different marriage dates, two different maiden names for Margaret. (Dewham and Donahue) At one point we thought there may be 2 different couples by this name, but this seems pretty unlikely in the town of Mifflin in the 1800's. In 1893 Margaret sued Joseph for cruel and inhuman treatment in Iowa County. The document I have is 16 pages and in great detail. It does say that they were married in New Diggings in 1852. Another resource said they lived in Platteville at one time, and were married in 1857. So far I haven't located any marriage or death records, and that might help to sort this out. thanks

    1. [WILAFAYE] Fw: [HART-L] Irish Church Records
    2. Marlys Steckler
    3. FYI/ Forwarded from another site. Someone may find this helpful. As a free alternative or supplement to commissioning an expensive full study to find records of our Irish Ancestors, I have acccumulated Irish Church Records from my own research and from the research of many other generous donors who have also contributed their records. I have formatted and batched together and donated these records, over a couple of years to Rootsweb, which provides free database server space to me and free access to you, so that the information taken from these records, including many which have never before been published by the LDS or anyone, can be accessed for free. The latest update, which occurred just last week, was an additonal new batch of about 3,400 records. The total number of Baptisms and and Chruch records of Marriages has now reached 9,511 which now puts the goal of 10,000 records by the end of this year well within reach. The latest batch includes many from County Galway and several generous Galway list members. Since the index lately does not show counties, you have to look at the full record to see the county. There are lots of Galway records among them, even though the indexed ones are the original Tipperary and Limerick records. Please take a look at this database; search all your surnames, and please spread the word about this free access to a database of nearly 10,000 Irish Church Records to other County lists you subscribe to. The site address is: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~irishchurchrecords/index.html ROOTSWEB'S IRISH CHURCH RECORDS DATABASE They also may be accessed from other Rootsweb search sites, but I built this one, which shows only the Irish Records and does not co-mingle them with English or other United Kingdom records as Rootsweb sites do. If you have any baptismal or marriage church records and you would like to join in this effort to provide FREE access to thousands of Irish Church Records, please note the link at the bottom of that page, on "How to donate to this Database." It's all about people sharing and helping each other. Enjoy, Tony Riordan triordan@msn.com

    1. [WILAFAYE] From List Mom - 3rd Quarterly Report 2001
    2. Kathleen Burnett
    3. Dear List Members, Here it is the end September and time for the Third Quarterly Report for 2001. This past month has been a difficult time for all of us, but we made it through it and each of us are trying to get back to normal, or as normal as we can again. Part of that getting back to normal is our quarterly reports. Again, for your information, the WILAFAYE Mailing List has 124 members, 94 on the Regular list and there are 30 members on the Digest List. If you are interested in knowing about other mailing list out there, one of the very best inventories of genealogical mailing lists is John Fuller’s Genealogy Resources on the Internet located at http://www.rootsweb.com/~jfuller/gen_mail.html If you ever need to unsubscribe from this list or any rootsweb list all you need to do is visit Password Central located at http://passwordcentral.rootsweb.com/ Follow the instructions and you will received an e-mail of all lists you belong to and from it you can unsubscribe from the ones you want to. Always know that I will be more than happy to help you if you are having problems unsubscribing, you only need to ask. If you would like to visit the Archived messages of this list, go to http://archiver.rootsweb.com/ and type in the name of the list you would like to search. There are a few items I would like to suggest for the benefit of each of us. 1. If someone posts a message to the list that should not have been posted, please just delete it. Know that I am taking care of the problem. If you post your unhappiness, then you just continue on the problem. I know it is hard when your heart has been offended, but for my sake, and the sake of the list, please just delete it. Rootsweb has a wonderful Spam Detective and it stops most of it. You should see what comes across my screen. I have to look at each of them to make sure that what was stopped was truly Spam. Once in a while, one slips by though and if this happens, just delete it and go on with what we all love, genealogical research. 2. If you would put the subject of your posting in the subject line it might give you a better chance to attract the attention of someone who has the information you are looking for or the attention of someone who is searching for the information you are posting. 3. Remember to change the Subject line when you change the topic of the posting. It is confusing to me and the member when your subject line has nothing to do with your posting. Most likely it will get deleted and you will not get the response you are looking for. 3. Please remember to delete the tags and un-needed words when you re-send a message to the list with your answer. If you don't check this, your responses can become quite large and may cause problems with some of our member's servers. This member who might not be able to receive your message because of its size, just might be your long lost second cousin with all the answers you are looking for. 4. The wonderful relationship that develops between list members is also one of a Mailing Lists Problems. I encourage you to respond to the entire list with genealogical responses, you never know who your response will help. In the same thought I would like to ask you to not respond to the entire list with personal responses. Such as, the first message from a member says "Happy Birthday Mary" and then Mary says "Thank you” and then about 60 of our members also send "Happy Birthday Mary". Mary then sends out 60 more "Thank You" messages. This is what I mean by personal messages. Just keep in mind anything is ok to be posted as long as it has to do with the subject of the list. If you have a doubt ask me. KathleenBurnett@earthlink.net 5. Remember to keep your Virus protection up to date and never open any attached file unless you are 100% sure what it is and even then you are taking a chance. Please remember, so that this list is better for each of us, the posting of virus warnings, test messages, chain letters, political announcements, current events, items for sale, personal messages, flames, etc., in other words Spam is NOT ALLOWED and will be grounds for removal. Consideration for exceptions, contact me at KathleenBurnett@earthlink.net If one of these items come across the list, just delete it, do not respond to it. I am taking care of the problem, quietly behind the scenes. I want to thank each of you for your continued support of me and your willingness to help make this list the success it is. 3. To Clean and fix tombstones. Just went to a monument dealer to find out about cleaning and fixing sandstone tombstones. To clean use a dish soap such as Dawn. Soak the tombstone with water. Then pour the soap on and use a gentle scrub brush, then wash off with water. Never use vinegar when the tombstone is not in the sun. It will color the tombstone. There is no good way they told me to fix a sandstone tombstone without damaging it more. They said the best way was to lay a slab of cement on the ground the size of the tombstone and when the cement is almost dry then lay the tombstone on it. Marlys nothergrandma@charter.net

    3. Thanks Marie, I have very little to go on here, so am gathering what I can about MAHONEY in the Shullsburg area. My interest is based on James H. that first showed up in Bridgewater, SD, married to Mary A. CONNOR. This line is the only known descendants of Mary's father (Unknown) CONNOR, a brother of my ggrandmother. Mary A. was supposedly born in Missourri. Her father supposedly drowned in the Red River of the North. At age 4, Mary A. was living with my ggrandparents in Dubuque County, Iowa. I was quite surprised to learn that James and Mary MAHONEY were both buried at Shullsburg so am looking for the connection. Mahoney in 1896, Michael Mahoney in 1875, and a couple more that are of recent dates. -----Original Message----- From: Jim Neiers <neiersj@hiwaay.net> To: WILAFAYE-L@rootsweb.com <WILAFAYE-L@rootsweb.com> Date: Sunday, September 02, 2001 1:03 AM Subject: [WILAFAYE] MAHONEY around Shullsburg >I am looking for any Mahoney families around Shullsburg. I have a relative, Mary A. MAHONEY and her husband, James H. MAHONEY, buried at Shullsburg. I am trying to learn why as I was unaware of any Wisconsin connection. They are from Tama, Iowa. Mary A. died at Tama 3 May 1933. James H. died in 1947. > >Jim Neiers in Alabama > > >==== WILAFAYE Mailing List ==== >If you wish to subscribe to or unsubscribe from the Lafayette Co., WI list, use >wilafaye-l-request@rootsweb.com.
