George grew up in Albany, IL and had 8 siblings. Like himself and his father, all four of George's brothers were steamboat captains. He was active in the local La Crosse branch of the GAR after his service in the Civil War. George and Isabella were married in La Crosse in 1880 and lived in La Crosse (on 4th St) for most of their married lives. Looking to share photos and history. George was my great grandfather's uncle.
