You mention the names Kastenschmidt, Stratman, and Niedfeldt which were also friends and neighbors of my father in Bangor, WI. You mentioned Pfaffs marrying Pfaffs but not related before the marriage. How did they know if they were or were not married? I visited eight cemetaries in the Melrose, North Bend, Ettrick, Mindoro, Bangor, Burr Oak and Sparta areas with my mother about ten years ago. The markers with our family names dominated large areas of many of those cemetaries. Those named Jung and those named Young were often from the same family. There are Pfaffs on both my father's side and mother's side of my family. I can't tell if they (the Pfaffs) are related to each other because of duplicate names in the same small area born the same year. I'm in Tennessee now but the next time I get to Wisconsin I will have my step-sister in-law(a Pfaff) try to figure ! it out. There are probably local records that are not available on the internet. Local church records on baptisms might do the trick. Burdell Rohrer burdellrohrer@comcast.net Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
