However, if anyone is still interested in the ancestry of Edward Gein I have the answer. Edward Theodore Gein (1906-1984) was the son of George Gein (1873-1940) and Auguste Lehrke (1877-1945). Auguste's parents were Frederick Lehrke and Amalia Fregin, who were both born in Prussia. George was born 'George Gee.' He was the son of John Gee and Maria Catharine Dingeldein (Dingledine) of La Crosse Co, WI. John's parents were Merritt Gee and Mary ____. Maria Catharine's parents were George Dingeldein and Margaret Treusch of Vernon Co, WI. George Gee (Gein) was orphaned at an early age and by 1880 was living with his uncle (his mother's brother) Leonard Dingeldein (Dingledine) and Leonard's wife in Vernon Co. Sometime soon after marrying in 1900 George changed his surname from 'Gee' to 'Gein,' perhaps at the urging of his new wife Auguste. I have the marriage records for Ed Gein's parents and paternal grandparents to prove all of the above. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
