Richert, 95, of Onalaska died Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2009, at Franciscan Skemp Healthcare Medical Center in La Crosse. She was born Nov. 29, 1913, in Chicago, the daughter of Benjamin and Lydia (Blankenship) Martin. She married Philip Richert on Nov. 18, 1931. In 1933, they moved to East Moline, Ill., where Thelma was a housewife and mother. From 1947-1954 they owned and operated the 5th Ave. Night Club in Rock Island, Ill. In 1954, they moved to Wisconsin, where they owned and operated several businesses, including Richert's Beer Depot in Tomahawk, Wis. They then relocated to Stevens Point, Wis., where they retired. Thelma's beloved husband, Philip, died July 6, 1984. In 1991, Thelma moved to Mountain Home, Ark., to be near her daughter, Dolores. After Dolores' death, she moved to Onalaska to live by her youngest daughter, Sheryl. Thelma collected dolls, loved doing artwork (including painting ceramics) and spending time with family and friends. Her zest for life, smile and laughter will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by a daughter Sheryl (Daniel) Berg of La Crosse; a son, Philip (Patricia) Richert of Moline, Ill.; foster daughters, Yolanda Rodriguez of Montreal, Canada, and Alicia Rodriguez of San Francisco; 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-greatgrandchild. In addition to her husband, Philip, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Dolores Rehfeldt; a grand-daughter, Kathleen Richert; one sister, Marie Johnson; and three brothers, Russell Martin, Roy Martin and Howard Martin. A memorial Mass will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 28, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Onalaska. The Rev. Greg Bohren will officiate. Burial will be in the Catholic Cemetery in La Crosse. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until time of services. Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home is assisting the family.
