    1. [WILACROS] New Digital Collection: Maps and Atlases of La Crosse County, Wisconsin, and the Upper Mississippi River
    2. Digital Content
    3. The University of Wisconsin Digital Collections has recently digitized materials from several local history collections held by public libraries from across the state of Wisconsin, partially funded by a Library Services and Technology Grant administered by the Wisconsin Department of Instruction. Included in our recent efforts is: Maps and Atlases of La Crosse County, Wisconsin, and the Upper Mississippi River This group of material includes maps and atlases of La Crosse County of a variety of types, including plat (rural land ownership), highway, soil, topographic; city of La Crosse (Wisconsin) including zoning, parks, and street; other La Crosse County municipalities; and representative pre- and post-lock and dam charts and maps of the Upper Mississippi River. The date range of this map collection is approximately 1854-1987 and explores the rich history of the area from the days of logging to the post-lock and dam system on the Mississippi River. This project brings together in an online environment content that is located physically at three separate institutions: the La Crosse Public Library, Murphy Library at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and the Wisconsin Historical Society. http://digital.library.wisc.edu/1711.dl/WI.LaCrosseLocHist We have hundreds of other local history resources online and freely searchable in our State of Wisconsin Collection at http://digital.library.wisc.edu/1711.dl/WI Enjoy! 3. What a marvelous site. I find that after 84 years I can still remember what streets are in the north or southside in the directories. Brings back many memories. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Digital Content" <digitalcontent@library.wisc.edu> To: <WILACROS@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, January 28, 2009 4:48 PM Subject: [WILACROS] New Digital Collection: Maps and Atlases of La Crosse County, Wisconsin, and the Upper Mississippi River > The University of Wisconsin Digital Collections has recently digitized > materials from several local history collections held by public > libraries from across the state of Wisconsin, partially funded by a > Library Services and Technology Grant administered by the Wisconsin > Department of Instruction.
