From "History of La Crosse County, Wisconsin", 1881, p. 756. City of La Crosse H. GODDARD, lumberman, has been a resident of La Crosse since August, 1857. He was born in Worcester Co., Mass., in 1836; came from there to Wisconsin in 1857. He has been engaged in logging since 1866. In 1874-75, he built his saw-mill, which he continues to operate. He has but one child, Myrtie; lost one, Jessie Harlow, died in infancy in 1879. Mrs. Goddard, whose maiden name was Margette Harlow, was a native of Vermont.
