From "History of La Crosse County, Wisconsin", 1881, p. 759. City of La Crosse FREDERICK GUENTHER, machinist; has been in La Crosse since May, 1864. He was in business for himself from 1871 to 1876, and since that in the employ of John James. He was born in Weimar, Germany, in 1837; son of Johan Christof Guenther; learned his trade in the old country, and came to the United States in 1864. He was married in La Crosse February, 1869, to Teobalt Plinn, and has six children - Freddie, Ida, Katie, Lillie, Emma, and an infant not named.
