City of La Crosse DAVID AUSTIN, of the logging and lumber firm of Sawyer & Austin, has been in business in La Crosse since the spring of 1872; came to La Crosse at that time from Cleveland, Ohio, where he had been in the same business for about four years. His early life was spent in the lumber business on the Allegany River, in Western New York, residing in Cattaraugus Co. He now resides in Sparta, Wis., and has his office in the Lumberman's Exchange, in La Crosse. His partner, Mr. Sawyer, resides at Black River Falls.
