Hello Wisconsin Genealogists, I just came across this paragraph in a story from the Green Bay Press-Gazette from yesterday at HYPERLINK "http://www.greenbaypressgazette.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20071024/GPG 0101/710240631/1978"http://www.greenbaypressgazette.com/apps/pbcs.dll/articl e?AID=/20071024/GPG0101/710240631/1978: "Copies of birth certificates will increase from $12 to $20 each, while copies of certificates for death, marriage and divorce will jump from $7 to $20, and the fee to expedite services will double from $10 to $20." Please contact the Governor's office TODAY and ask him to veto, or at least lessen, these fee hikes for copies of vital records. He will be signing the budget tomorrow morning at 9 AM at UW-Madison, and it will be too late by then. There is an online form to contact the Governor's office at HYPERLINK "http://www.wisgov.state.wi.us/contact.asp?locid=19"http://www.wisgov.state. wi.us/contact.asp?locid=19, or you can call his office at 608-266-1212, or fax to 608-267-8983. PLEASE PASS THIS MESSAGE ALONG TO AS MANY WISCONSIN GENEALOGISTS AS POSSIBLE TODAY. I know this message won't reach all of you in time, but I'm hoping that a mass mailing will get most of you and we can fan out the message from there. I apologize for the spam, but this is an emergency. Thank you for your help! Mary Rieder President Wisconsin State Genealogical Society No virus found in this outgoing message.
