I have a picture of my gr-grandparents home near LaCrosse.....probably in the Onalaska/Midway area. John Lytle and Julia M (Miller) Lytle were married in 1868, and this home was theirs, according to a notation on the picture. Lytle's Landing/Bottoms near LaCrosse and Lytle's Station are both named for John Lytle. I am wondering which local historical societies exist for either Midway or Onalaska that might be interested in seeing this picture and telling me if there are other pictures of this home anywhere. John Lytle was married #1 to a Luny (Canada, prior to coming to LaCrosse area), to an Elizabeth Merrier - Emma(line) Wood and to one other woman, unknown name. My gr-grandmother, Julia Miller Lytle, was his #5 wife. John Lytle died in 1893, and I imagine it wasn't long before Julia left the home...by 1900 or thereabouts. There were several children still at home when he died . John also had older sons, James and Charles Lytle who resided at DeSoto (Vernon) at the time of John's death in 1893. I am very interested to find information on these (2) older sons and their families. Nothing is known of them. Other sons were: John O. (Married/divorced Cora Battles) Francis (Frank) (never married) and then younger ones named Thomas, Milford, David Levi and Arthur. Daughters were: Jennie (Mrs. Charles Bosshard), Elizabeth/Lizzie (Mrs. John Hull) Eleanor/Ella (Mrs. Hixson Fauver) Lucy (Mrs. Richard Sorenson) I would also be interested in getting historical pictures from Midway/Onalaska area from the 1850's (when John Lytle first came) through the end of the 1800's--the period of time they would have lived there. Something showing the elemental town and its buildings/homes, etc. I am putting together a family history book and want "period" pictures to tie the story together so that my children/grandchildren can see life as it was then. If anyone can help, I would appreciate it. I am willing to pay for copies, etc. I have just started to use "lists" and find that the people who read the mail in their own local area area are great!! And they are also the most knowledgeable!! Thanks for reading this long thing! Jeanne in Montana
