The name Kirking was changed from Kirkeng and perhaps Kirkeeng during the early 1900's. Most Kirkings in the U.S. are descended from the Kirkengs or Kirkeengs of that region of Norway. I am just beginning what I know will be a deep dive into murky waters in trying to construct the family tree. Family oral history tells that further back, the Kirkeng/Kirkeeng family had its roots in Northern Scotland.
