    3. At the La Crosse Genealogy meeting last week there was a hand out with examples of German script and the lower case "n"s look VERY much like a u. It said to watch closely because of the similarity. Could be that the original person transcribed for the book from hand written notes? I've found that a Stephen Gautsch was spelled both with an e and an a in different places. Not sure if that could be script thing or just a person used to the other spelling.     3. Lita, Hmmm, could be. You know how the whole "spell however it sounds" goes for Stephan versus Stephen. I'm just make a note of both variant spellings on the webpage.
