    2. From "History of La Crosse County, Wisconsin", 1881, p. 774. City of La Crosse C. H. MARSH, foreman in the boot and shoe shop of W. F. Somerfield; has resided in La Crosse since April, 1853; he is a native of Claremont, N. H. His father, Albert Marsh, came to Wisconsin in 1840, and lived in Waukesha Co. till he came to La Crosse in 1856, where he died in the spring of 1880, at the age of 73. Mr. Marsh learned his trade in Waukesha, and came to La Crosse from there in 1853; he was engaged in the sewing-machine business in La Crosse seven years, being agent for the Grover & Baker machine, and spent nine years in steamboating on the Mississippi River; he also spent one and a half years in the Rocky Mountains, in 1860 and 1861. He has six children - Elmer A. Rolla R., Harry, Mildred, Lillian and Archie. Mrs. Marsh was Matilda Looney, daughter of John S. Looney, who came to La Crosse in June, 1852. [See biography of A. H.
