I got in too late last night to respond to your e-mail. Let me know when you plan on going to the county court house again. I could use some help. My mom lives in LaCrosse but she doesn't see well enough to do the searching. Would love to hear from you. Denise [email protected] wrote:I am going to La crosse conty court house tomorrow 9/2/04 . Hi Debbie, This is a very long shot but here is was I need to find out. Phoebe Verrier married a Ray Conners or O'Conners I believe in LaCrosse between 1880 and 1885, They had a baby girl Pearl and she died in infancy. Phoebe is living with her parents in Monroe County in 1880, She was a Catholic. Oral history states that she was from La Crosse. She is in Rock Island County Illinois by 1885. I have found no record of marriage or divorce for Phoebe. I believe she was disowned by her parents for the divorce form Ray. I know this is not much information and with all the requests you are getting certainly understand if you do not have time to look for a marriage to Ray and a death for Pearl in this time frame. Thank you very much and what a wonderful offer you have made. Susie Gust GGgrand daughter to Phoebe. ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, September 01, 2004 1:54 PM Subject: [WILACROS] will do look ups tomorrow la crosse county Wis > I am going to La crosse conty court house tomorrow 9/2/04 . Would there be records of births in LaCrosse county? What type of records do they have there? I have been trying to find information on the Tschakert(Schackert/Shakert/etc.)family from Bohemia. They were living in LaCrosse or Onalaska sometime after 1867-1880. My husband's great grandmother Mary Tschakert was born in LaCrosse or just outside, also her brother Frank Joseph and possibly one more sister. Thier parents were Lawrence(Lorenz)and Theresia Tschakert. Also living with this family was Rosalie(Lorenz's mother)Tschakert. They were of Catholic religion. I have tried writing to LaCrosse Library and they could not find anything on the family. I have no idea what occupation Lawrence Tschakert was involved in while living there, but they moved on to Dakota's and he was a farmer there. Mary Tschakert was born in 1870 or 1871 and her brother Frank Joseph was born abt. 1868. Birth records are of utmost importance, but if there are any other records that may be housed where you are going that may pertain, I would be most interested. thanks for any help you can give, cindy
Thank you! I have the following: 1. La Crosse Marriages, vol. 2, p. 165, July 9, 1867: Knud Ericksen and Kari Hakeusla(?). May I please have the names of Knud's parents? [This is an old note I wrote and filed away because it did not fit my mother's ancestors. However, I just found out my father also has a Knud Ericksen. I hope I copied the correct site] 2. La Crosse Deaths: Andrew H. Anderson, born June 25, 1841; died January 7, 1907. May I please have the names of Andrew's parents, his address, his occupation, and of the informant? [Is Mons Anderson's name here anywhere? I think this is his brother]. I am very grateful. Debbie, If it's not too late.....Michael Dolan married Caroline Pangkratz in LaCrosse County around 1874. I need to see the actual record to find out if he listed his parents on the document. If it says his parents were Patrick Dolan and Julia Campbell, then I'm on the right trail! Thanks a bunch. I am not sure about the age requirement but I do know that it was possible to get a license and married on the same day - no waiting may have been a factor. Being from Winona I had a number of relatives married in Winona but fortunately I had several who went to Wisconsin to get married. Wisconsin asked for much more information than Minnesota. Maybe the laws just weren't as strict. Lita I have gone to find myself. If I get back before I return, please ask me to wait. The records are kept in the Register of Deeds Office. There is a form to fill out and I think a $15 or $12 for a copy of the registration. Joyce
