One of these families was Alexander A. Blair (b. Jun 09, 1823) and Sarah H. Smalley (b. Jan 27, 1826). Both were born in Vermont and settled in La Crosse Ward 1, La Crosse WI. I've "rescued" an old photograph identified as "Elsie and Mr. WAHL of Holmen". The photograph has not photographer or location indicated, though because it was recovered with other photographs from Wisconsin I believe that the town referenced is "Holman, WI". The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1890's or early 1900's. Elsie is wearing a wedding dress in the photograph and Mr. WAHL has flowers on his lapel suggesting they are the wedding couple, though Elsie is much younger than Mr. WAHL it would appear. I'd guess that Mr. WAHL is in his 40's and Elsie likely in her teens or 20's at the time the photograph was taken. It could on the other hand be a photograph of father and daughter on her wedding day, just don't know that for sure. I am hoping to be able to locate someone from this WAHL Family so that this wonderful old photograph can be returned to the care of family. I've "rescued" an old photograph of Webster and K. Jeanette SOULES which was taken at the Pryer Studio in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. The photograph appears to have been taken in the early 1900's with the two children appearing to be about 4-6 years old at the time, the boy being the oldest of the two. Based on limited research I was able to locate the family in census records as follows: 1920 census of LaCrosse, WI: Wilbert SOULES, age 49, born WI, parents born Canada, a Railroad Locomotive Engineer Anna SOULES, wife, age 44, born WI, parents born Norway Webster F. SOULES, son, age 11, born WI Jeanette K. SOULES, dau, age 8, born WI I am hoping to locate someone from their family so that this precious old photograph can be returned to the care of their family.
