    3. I didn't find anything on Lavera or Kenneth Leiran at http://www.lacrosselibrary.org/genealogy/ but did find this obituary listing. Notice the death date. Could there be confusion?Mrs. Herman Klemme La Crosse, WI 11/18/1958 La Crosse Tribune 11 http://www.lacrosselibrary.org/genealogy/ I checked the April 1950 La Crosse phone book, the City Directories from 1950/51, 1948, and 1941 and the only thing close I found was Ruby Klemme. 3. Hello, Saw the message about the Schmidt family. Not sure if there is any connection but I am related to Schmidt's in that area. They were not from Prussia though, they were from Cologne Germany. My Great x 3 grandparents names were Henry Schmidt (04/08/1839-01/03/1903) and Marie Schmidt (03/31/1849-07/21/1907. Their children were <Gertrude, Kate, Mary, Barbara, Minnie, Odelis, Ann, Christina, Henrich, Matt, John, and another Christina so I'm unsure if one of them died. If this helps the researcher about her Schmidt then great. If she recognizes any of those names let me know. Author: jayneolson48 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.wisconsin.counties.lacrosse/2706.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I have never heard of the Viroqua Tavern in La Crosse, but it could have been only there for a short time. Viroqua itself is in Vernon County, but that is considered a "dry" community. There are very few establishments that serve liquor or beer. There is the old Nate's supper club, Viking Inn, Eagles Club,VFW and the American Legion. That is pretty much it in Viroqua. I did see a Thomas O'Connor buried in the Catholic cemetery in La Crosse next to a Dolores Marie Goodenough and she is listed as daughter, but she may be the daughter of the family in the next lot. The next time I am in La Crosse I will go to the register of deeds and see if there is anything on his death certificate, and I will also try to see if there is an obit for him after I get the exact death date.
