The reason behind my question is that there seems to have been 3 different Lapitz families that lived in La Crosse in the 1870 - 1880's time period. Head of households were Joseph who died between 1870 and 1880 and his wife Marie was head. There was a Frank and a Mathias (Matej). I believe that these families are related to my ancestor John LAPIC from Rice County Minnesota and his brother James LAPICE in Le Sueur County also in Minnesota. Please contact me and let me know if you would like to start a discussion about these families. Sincerely, Michael Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I knew he had been born in Shrewsbury, England, and I knew he had something to do with the iron foundry business in Wisconsin. That is about all I knew. I inherited some of his son Alfred (my Great Grandfather) wedding gifts from the Pioneer Iron Foundry. I also knew that Alfred married Jessie Spiers who became Jessie James, which always made us laugh when anyone asked if we were related. We of course said yes, our Great grandmother, which always perplexed everyone. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. It was an estate case with MICHEL and ANNA BATISTA from Zillis, Switzerland against RICHARD THöNI from Zillis, Switzerland and MARIA MANI-THöNI in Pigneu,(Graubunden) Switzerland. This document is in German and I translated using free online translation to get the basics, but am going to have it properly transcribed because the online version has a lot to be desired, but I think I got the names. Especially the names and locations of THöNI's or (Thoeni's or Thoeny's or Thony's) in America. So I thought I would put this information out there and see if anyone recognized any of the names of their relatives in this document. I am still trying to unravel my family history, and this is the only real lead I have. This document as far as I can tell stated that a BARBARA BANDLIN-CADISCH who died in Switzerland and had a sister named FRAN ANNA BATISTA, there were also evidently siblings or relations consisting of: SAMSON THöNI in Wycoff Minn; JOHN THöNI in LaCrosse, Wisc.; JACOB THöNI in LaCrosse, Wisc.; and GEORGE and CHRIST THöNI of Walla Walla,Wash; and MENGA THöNI-HABERSTOCK of Bickleton, Wash, MARIA MANI-THöNI in Pigneu Switzerland, and RICHARD THöNI in Zillis, Switzerland. There is also mention that BARBARA BANDLIN-CADISCH may lived in Dubuque, Iowa before she di In this message board, it mentions a John and Jacob Thoeny so maybe it is the same persons mentioned in this court document. Lets hope this document is the key to unraveling this THöNI-THOENY mystery. So does anybody recognize their relatives names in this court case?
