As I said my grandfather on my mothers side is a mystery. I only have one photo of him in his uniform. I have his death certificate which gives his birthdate as Dec 16, 1888. No record of any siblings, just his mother and fathers names. I would think a drowning in the Mississippi would warrant some kind of record, but I have looked and looked and nothing. None of my mothers family are living as she and I were both only children. Thanks for any info you can provide. Joan Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I am new to ancestry.com, so I just found the message. I have some information on the family that was in my grandmother's bible. She passed away in 1975. My grandfather and most of their children are gone already as well. One son(my father) and one aunt are still living and both live close to me. This is exciting because they are in their 70s and 80s and looking for more information on their mother's family. I can email the info I have on the family. My aunt may have some photos. I will have to talk with her. Do you have any photos? Can I get your email address? I will send you what I have on the family, as well as my grandmother and grandfathers family if you would like that. I'm glad that you are still receiving replies on this thread or I may have missed you. Kris Leonhardt Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. My grandfathers name was William Henry Miller. He might have been known by Henry. He is kind of a mystery. What I do know is that he was born in 1888. He fought in WW1, he was a victim of shell-shock and he drown in 1920 in the Mississippi river. Does any of that seem familiar. Henry would have been my grandmother's brother. Her name was Clara. Amelia's (Emelia) last name was Wegner during her other marriage to Otto Wegner. There is a 1905 census record that lists the family...Emelia is listed as Elily U. Henry is on the record. I do not know a lot about this man, which I know is not very helpful to others. However, here is what I do know. 1) He was born in Minnesota. 2) He worked on the Benson Farm (Martha and Lewis [or sometimes spelled Louis] Benson) as a hired hand sometime between 1927-1928 for sure. This was in Houston County, MN. 3) He worked as a taxi driver in La Crosse, WI. 4) He worked at the Maid-Rite in La Crosse as a cook in the 1940's. I know this is not a lot to work with, but any information/leads would be helpful. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
