    3. Civil War pension files and military records have NOT been microfilmed and are only available from the National archives. You need NATF form 80. from the National archives. The national archives website is www.nara.org Find the place where it says "contact us" in the website. Write FORMS in the subject line and in the body of the letter write Please send X No. Copies of NATF form 80 and write your snail address. Unfortunately this can be slow...be patient. When the form arrives BE AS COMPLETE as you can. It is easier to put in Credit card no. Don't send a check because if they can't find anything they don't charge. The address to send the form etc is on it. As I noted on my previous email, if your ancestor had a pension file, request the ENTIRE file. I hilited it in Yellow. They sent me 20 pages but then sent a letter saying there were 78 more pages and requested more money...which I gladly sent. In one of my ancestor's files there were affadavits stating parenthood of various ancestors...for some that had no birth records...and whom I just had threads of evidence. The best of all is to go directly to the National Archives in Washington and handle the papers with your own hands...quite a thrill...but this will do. Good luck. Let me know if you need any help.
