Casey In the death of the subject of this sketch a brave soldier and good citizen has been called to his final reward. E. E. Casey was born in New Haven, Connecticut, in 1841. His parents came to Wisconsin in 1846. He run the Wisconsin River as a pilot for a number of years, and was always a staunch comrade and jolly companion. He enlisted in 1861, in his country's defense as a member of Company F, Ninth Regiment, Minnesota Volunteers and was mustered out at the close of the war. He was married to Miss Imogene Porter July 4, 1879. He had been in failing health some time and his death was not unexpected. His immediate family consists of his wife and three children, who mourn the loss of a true and loving husband and father. Four sisters also survive him: Mrs. M. E. Thompson, of Niobrara, Nebraska; Mrs. Lute Hill, of Brainard, Minn., Mrs. A. Baird, of Fox Lake, Wisc., and Mrs. S. B. Roberts, of Necedah, all of whom were with him when the end came. He passed away very peacefully at o! ne o'clock Sunday, July 24, 1898 after a long and painful illness. His homestead is in Armenia, about eight miles from Necedah. He was well known and respected by all who knew him and leaves many friends to mourn his loss. The funeral service was conducted by the G. A. R. on the following Tuesday.
