W. BACON, of Werner, aged sixteen years. The deceased had been long and favorably known by the people of this county, as a youth of more than ordinary intelligence and sterling integrity. He was among the first to respond to the call of his country in this, her hour of peril. - "Stand by the flag," was his motto, in the maintenance of which he laid down his youthful life. But though the bereavement is severe, yet as Christians, we are assured that he has only crossed over the River to that "Brighter and better world,: where the roar of artillery, turmoil and strife are never heard; where love Divine ennobles every heart, and hallalujahs exalted, employ every tongue.
