This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. What you may want to consider is posting a message to the Dane County, Wisconsin message board. That is where the Historical Library is located and you may find a volunteer willing to pop over there and take a peek at that marriage record for Carr/Phillips. Even though it's from 1857 the parents names could be listed and a place of birth. Probably won't be much else. You could even try and see if they could find the obit for Norris in the Elroy Tribune, using the date of his death. If you don't get a response in several weeks, I will be at the Historical Library sometime before the end of October, 2004. Carolyn p.s most pre-1907 vitals are on microfilm and can be printed out at the Historical Library for 25 cents. Same for an obit if found.
