Surnames: Macomber, Champney Classification: Obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/wEC.2ACE/1414 Message Board Post: New Lisbon Times dated May 11, 1898 The death of Henry Macomber who since 1854 has been a prominent citizen of this city and town of Lisbon, took place at 8:05 o'clock this morning from a fatal attack of hiccoughs combined with other complication. Deceased was 71 years of age. Farming has always been his occupation with the exception of a few years when he was engaged in the banking business, a venture which resulted in disaster and made him a comparatively poor man. It is but fair to state that the public never charged him with being the cause of the bank's failure. His large fortune was swept away with the rest. Mr. Macomber was a leading member of the Baptist church and was possessed of many kind and generous impulses. The citizens of this community have often called him to positions of honor and trust and at the time of his death he was county supervisor for the Second Ward. He leaves a wife, a daughter Mrs. R. F. Champney, and three sons William D. of Chicago and Bert and Lloyd of this city. The f! uneral services will probably be held at the Baptist church on next Friday afternoon, Rev. Bunyard to officiate. A good man has gone and his departure is mourned by all. The TIMES extends its heartfelt sympathy to the grief-stricken family and other relatives.
