CORONER'S JURY John Godrey, Esq., Dear Sir: It is thought by many best for you to proceed and summon a coroner's jury to investigate the cause of Mr. Kniskin's death. Yours truly, W. L. Fuller. Necedah, Wis., Aug 26, 1886 A summons was immediately issued and placed in the hands of M. Coughlin and the following jury summoned: John Hanihan, foreman, Jas. Quin, C. D. Loomis, T. M. Canfield, J. Stowasser, T. Williams. The investigation took place at the residence of the deceased, and the evidence showed that the deceased was apparently in good health when he went to bed at 11 o'clock of the 25th inst., and at 4:30 next morning he was found dead in bed by his son Walter. Doctor Reed made a careful examination of the case, and following verdict was returned by the jury: "That the late Stephen Kniskin, came to his death in a natural manner, from chronic or acute disease of the heart." 3. Wow! This post is sure out of the blue and a wonderful surprise this am. Just two days ago I discovered that the KRISKERN 's that I had been looking for in Juneau county were actually KNISKEN or KNISKERN. But they have also been found spelled KRISKERN in some transcriptions. The actual census page could go either way. Stephen's son Walace married my Great Aunt Matilda Van Hoosen / an in 1879 in Juneau County. Their son Harvey was found in 1900 living on the farm with my Great Grandfather Charles Van Hoosan / en in Hancock County, Iowa. The marriage is the last record I have of Walace as the 1880 Census shows Matilda and Harvey living with the Abraham Van Hoosen family on the farm in Juneau County. I don't know what happened to Matilda after 1880. I haven't found any records of her possible remarriage or her death. Although now that I have found Harvey in Iowa that may be where I need to concentrate more. Regards, Tiffany Does any of this strike a chord with anyone else?
