He was born in Symesburg, Hartford Co., Conn., and was married to Miss L. M. Thomas in October 1843. Together with his family he moved to Ill., and from Ill. to Vernon Co. Wis., in 1856, and from Vernon Co. to New Lisbon in 1878 where he has resided up to the time of his death. At the call of the President he enlisted in the army in 1861 and in 1863 he was honorably discharged on account of disability. He was a good citizen, a kind and indulgent father, and an affectionate husband. He leaves a wife and two children, a son and daughter to mourn their loss. The funeral took place at his residence in this village, last Sunday at 2 p.m., under the supervision of the G.A.R. Post of New Lisbon. The sermon was preached by Rev. H. D. Jencks.
