    1. Stephen MURPHY
    2. Jim & Gail Murphy
    3. Looking for information on Stephen and Ellen (Scanlon) MURPHY who lived in Juneau County from sometime in the mid 1850's to about 1871 when they homesteaded in Iowa. They had four children: Mary born in Ireland, Michael born in Ohio and Jeremiah and Bartholomew born in Wisconsin. They were listed in P.O. Wonewoc in the 1860 and 1870 census, although the farm Stephen owned was actually located east of Elroy. Stephen had neighbors Jeremiah and Bartholomew MURPHY who I suspect might have been his brothers. Many of the same names occur in both families. I know both Stephen and Jeremiah were from Co. Kerry, Ireland. Stephen's daughter Mary no longer appears in the 1870 census, but since she would have been about 21 years old, she may have been married, if she hadn't died previously. I have quite a bit of information about Stephen and family after they came to Iowa. I also know where they came from in Ireland, I would like to exchange information with anyone who might know more about the family. Gail Murphy [email protected]

    2. Vivian Pridgen-Brockway
    3. Joan and Jackie Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thanks to you and your diligent, tedious work, I now know that my Albert L. Brockway (as we knew him) and the Albert Brockway (1885,1895 Census) and Loren Brockway (son of O.H. Brockway, 1860 census) is the same person. He's Loren A. Brockway on the 1880 census with Martha (Johnson) wife and my grandfather, George Henry Brockway, 8 months old. I also can now tell from the 1880 census that his father, O.H., probably died before the 1875 census and why there are no Brockways on it. His mother, Phoebe, is married to George Woolard by 1875 (or 1870? I can hardly wait!!). Loren's brother Charles is living with the Woolards in the 1880 census. This is fascinating! And so easy with YOU doing the work! I have volunteered to transcribe the census for a county in Georgia. I appreciate all you and others have done and wanted to reciprocate in some way. I will try to do the same for others.
