    1. DONAHUE, James; DONNELLY, Margaret -- Grave search
    2. Linda L. Clements
    3. We are looking for the grave of my husband's great great grandparents. We have a picture postcard, presumably taken before 1915 somewhere in Wisconsin, of their very substantial tombstone. I am sure that it would have survived to this day -- somewhere. It reads: Donahue "May God Have Mercy on Their Souls" James Donahue, Died July 10, 1883, Aged 61 years Margaret Donnelly, His Wife, 1829 - "Natives of Co. Cork Irld." According to a notation on the back, Margaret died in 1915. Until recently we thought they were buried in Fond du Lac County, but (thanks to the census rolls on-line!) we have now found them in the 1860 US census and James in the 1875 state Census in Lyndon, Juneau County. (And we anxiously await later Juneau County US censuses.....) So now we suspect that they are buried in a Catholic cemetery in the Lyndon area. I'm not sure what cemetery that would be; I THINK I have looked through all the cemetery records on-line with no luck. Does anyone have a record of these cemeteries and/or have knowledge of such a headstone? Also, if anyone has ready access to the 1870 or 1880 US census for Lyndon, I would appreciate any information.... (I am leaving on a business trip Tuesday afternoon, and will be back Saturday night. While I will not be able to respond during that time, please understand that I will be most grateful for any information and will respond quickly upon my return.) 3. Just a friendly weekly reminder of the Wisconsin Genealogy Chat Sunday night at 9:00 p.m. EST (Adjust for your time zone) We have been having a great group, so stop in and see if you can connect with someone else researching one of your lines. There have been a few questions about the chat so I will post the information here for those of you interested in stopping in and are new to chat rooms. 1- Go to http://huntsville.about.com/citiestowns/southeastus/huntsville/mpchat.htm 2- Click on "log on to chat" 3- In the Nick Name space- type the name you want to show in the chat room. Most choose something short and some put the state appreviation after the name, examples DebWI, JeanIL, RedWA, etc. You do not need a password or need to fill out anything else on this page. Once you type in your name click on OK, Connect lower left. 4- You have entered the chat room. You will type your messages in the space in lower left of screen where it says Type here. Type your message and hit enter. A couple helpful hints. To make the screen bigger and without advertisements click on the float button in the upper right hand corner. To enlarge the type - in the message space type *chat fontsize 14, this will enlarge the type font for easier reading. Hope this helps and hope to see some new names in the chat Sunday. Follow the directions on how to enter places. I looked up our town and found our house, it is just a dot but it's there. Use settings 1:25,000 and large to zoom in. 2. --part1_70.3165af6.26f62fa1_boundary Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Hello Everyone, I need your help!!! I belong to a list for Hamilton County, Illinois. We are having a major problem. Two men in Iowa are stealing FREE information from a wonderful lady that belongs to the list. They are copying and pasting her information onto their site then CHARGING $45-50 to us to see the information. If you would would you read the letter below and do what your heart tells you to do. Please don't let this past you, it only takes a couple of minutes to write a letter and send it to the Attorney General in Iowa. One they are violating copyright laws and two they are committing fraud! Please help this also involves you, because these two people might be stealing your information and putting it on their site! Thank you for your time Michelle James Researching::Perry County Indiana......James, Goffinet, Sprinkle and many other branches of the tree that seem to never end. Researching::York, Austin, James from WI Hi Gang, Well, here we go again. He is back, now with his own domain: http://www.FamilyDiscovery.com I received a message from a lady who is trying to stop this fraud. Please visit her site and then click on the "attorney general" link which will allow you to send a complaint to the Iowa Attorney General. Maybe if enough of us complain, they will do something. Your message need not be long. Just state that the web site Family Discovery is committing fraud and are violating copy right laws and that you support free genealogy on the web. Please give your name and address. http://hometown.aol.com/vikkigray/saguachecensus1.htm Again, right now you go through the backdoor and view his Alabama site. You will see that he has "copy and pasted" info. directly from my Standerfer site and posted the info. on his site. I have changed the URL's for the links so that they no longer work. This is only a temporary measure and I can't keep changing them for the Standerfer or the Hamilton County site. If he is not stopped, he will no doubt collect a large database of Genweb info. and personal homepage info. http://128.121.230.66/Records/states/alabama.htm There is a telephone number for Mr. Abodeely that is listed and I tried to call. 3. Question: Is it really fraud when the disclaimer states the page only contains "EXTERNAL links which are not owned or operated by Family Discovery. This is merely a search engine that takes you directly to the information skipping all the time consuming steps"? Don't get me wrong, I positively abhor what this site is doing. Personally, I'd like to string up the people responsible for these type of sites. But will the Iowa Attorney General be able to do anything? Sure I haven't even finished the Juneau Co. births and deaths and now here is the marriage index :-) Jackie WISCONSIN MARRIAGE INDEX, 1820-1907 This index contains more than 920,000 individuals married in the state of Wisconsin prior to 1907. Wisconsin is one of few states to have a widespread index of records prior to establishment of a state vital records office. However, it is important to note that some records do exist at the county level and that these are not included in this statewide index. Taken from the index created by the Wisconsin Department of Health and Family Services, Vital Records Division, this database lists only those counties indexed by the state of Wisconsin. The entries for Racine County are incomplete, and all counties following Racine in alphabetical order are not included in this index. Source Information: Ancestry.com.
