    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Horswill Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/oEC.2ACE/13.66.1.2.1.2 Message Board Post: Hi everyone, I’m researching my wife’s ancestry via the Horswill line. I’ve been looking at census and military records, and thought maybe we could put some things together. As best I can tell, she’s descended through William K. Horswill: Diane Marie Odeen (b 1960, Irving twp.) | Bruce Odeen (b ~ 1935, Irving twp) and Carol Polzin | Gladys Horswill Odeen (b 1902 Irving twp, d 1985) and Andrew Odeen | John William Horswill (b 3 Aug 1867, Irving twp) and Louisa Klein (b Oct 1865 - Wisconsin?) | William Horswill (b ~ 1840, England) and Lydia unknown | William K. Horswill (b ~ 1816, England) and Elenor (b ~ 1815, England) I believe that my wife lived on the same Horswill farm that was purchased by William K. in 1856. Most of the information above is from the US census. William K had the following children (ages in 1860 census). All are listed as being born in England, but I think that's wrong for the youngest... William 19 John 14 Jane E. 15 George 13 James 11 Richard 9 Henry 4 Ellinor 2 My problems (?) are in civil war records. If George, James, and John served in the Civil War, they were pretty young… but I don’t see any others of these names in Irving twp. There was another Horswill family in Irving twp in 1860. They are (with ages): James Horswill 29 England Mary A. 40 England Mary J 6 Wisconsin George K. 4 Wisconsin William 2 Wisconsin Alfred 1 Wisconsin I believe this would be the start of the Stratton line. I guess that my major questions are: 1) Any evidence that James (29 in 1860) and William K. are related? 2) Are the James, John, and George who served in the Civil War the young sons of William K.? Any other info would be appreciated - thanks. I've got a little more information if anyone else is interested. Michael Kahlow michael.a.kahlow@uwrf.edu
