The oldest person we have in our family is my husbands great grandfather Eber Finch . The earlist record I have of Eber is in the 1853 census when he married Charlotte Burdick. Eber was from New York and Charlotte from Vermont. According to family members my Eber had five brothers and the whole family was involved in shipping by boat in the Lake Champaign are. The coincidence and the reason for my response is : My Eber Finch was from Richland Co and his friend was a Wright, in fact it was Frank Lloyd Wrights father. I am hoping you may have a link. I can not find Eber in any of the 1850 census records but he was born in 1804 in NY. My e-mail is darray@charter.net
